moab memorial day weekend

hope you all have had a nice memorial day weekend!

we had a wonderful time in the canyons of Moab, Utah.

friday night we loaded up the car and headed out. we camped along a creek bed.

I love camping, if you don't love camping I'm afraid I don't understand you. I love falling asleep being able to see stars out my tent roof and eating all my meals outside.

saturday we went hiking and exploring the canyons.

here is Dominick and our friends phil and maren who went with us at the trailhead.

Sunday we went mountain bike riding, sadly I have no pictures so you have to take my word that it was spectacular. the views were beautiful and the trails were fantastic.

monday we hung out for a while in arches national park.

the delicate arches are behind us but you have to look really closely.

Dom and maren picked up some pretty cool t-shirts from a fun bike shop in town.

we had a wonderful time of rest, relaxation and recreation. I highly reccomend moab for a getaway. we could have filled a few more days of fun activities but sadly work is requiring our return.

something that was hard for me...

im ready to talk about something that was particularly hard for me.

you see, I grew up in Texas which means I grew up a Texas ranger fan. I learned a great love of the team from my grandmother who has been a lover of the rangers as long as they have been a franchise.

and last october when they became American league champions by beating the yankees, I cried a few tears. when I'm having a bad day I simply look at this picture

and immediately begin to feel better.

which brings me to my problem. I moved to colorado, a state I love ad well as a state I am having a wonderful time living in. this would not be a problem if I did not hold such strong convictions that you always root, root, root for the home team. this rule is number one and has very few exceptions, none of which allow me to neglect the Colorado Rockies and remain ever true to the rangers only. (this rule is also the reason I would only live in new York city as long as the mets are there because I would rather eat a bowl of my own vomit than cheer for the yankees)

back to the point of this-the other night Dominick and I committed further to Colorado by attending a Rockies game at coors field.

and I cheered for the Rockies.

and I sang, "root, root, root for the Rockies" while the media guys through cracker jacks into the stands.

and a guy hit a home run and a water fountain sprayed high in the Forrest that sits in the outfield. (it was no fireworks and soundtrack of the natural movie but it was nice)

in the end we had a great time and I started my new love affair with a new team.

so that's the story. I now love the Rockies and they are my team and I'm committed.

it also doesn't hurt that the rangers are in the American league and the Rockies are in the national league so I can still cheer for the rangers until they meet the rockies in the world series in which case I will just go ahead and become a basket case.

great day in estes park

after church today we went to estes park.

we had some delicious burgers for lunch.

Laura and I got roses for mother's day even though neither of us are mother's or expecting.

we had a great time walking around town before we drove into rocky mountain national park to observe the beauty.

we have really enjoyed having these friends around this weekend.

my hubs is sooo hot...

it was so warm today that we were all in shorts but as we drove up higher in elevation there was snow on the grounds and snow walls lining the streets.

all in all a pretty fun day! it was just a weekend but with the friends and all the fun it felt like a vacation.

laura is a blogger and she wrote about the day too here if you want to check it out.

my blog lives again

I have a dear friend staying with me and she has mentioned a couple (thousand) times that I
haven't blogged in a while. who knew?

so here I am, updating.

I want to start with some pictures of the last few months, mainly because I don't want to forget how wonderful the move to Colorado has been.

I love this picture of our dear friends "helping" us pack up before the big move.

stopping for lunch on our long drive from tx to co. (also that's a long time to be in the car wondering what on earth you're doing moving to a town where you don't have jobs or a place to live)

driving, driving, driving.

thankfully after a few weeks we both had jobs (which we have since ditched for cooler jobs that we love) and an apartment. this is our first night in our co apt.

we loved and cheered for the rangers in October.

we spent thanksgiving with luke, ash and Cody. ash and I made the whole dinner ourselves, what what!!

later thanksgiving weekend we went snow-shoeing/cross country skiing.

we celebrated our first Christmas as a married couple.

(this is not a picture of us as a married couple (to clarify) it is dominick and the dog we let live with us)

on Christmas eve we went fly-fishing.

on our anneversiary we went to boulder to see Joshua radin in an amazing concert at the boulder theater.

then we spent the weekend in a cozy condo in breckenridge.

it's been a wonderul 8 months living here. we have made wonderful friends and had some great times. it's still life so it still has it's hard times but Jesus is Jesus so it's still good.

now Daniel and Laura are visiting so, obviously we are in the middle of a really fun weekend.
