fun weekend

we had a very fun weekend. on Saturday we went to Denver with some friends for the parade of lights.

this is captain waddles, he is the leader of the parade.

marching bands with lights on their instruments and uniforms.

me and my friend Maren

then on sunday we went to the Colorado eagles game. they are a minor league hockey team in town and Dominick won tickets from his work.

there was a lot of fighting and the game ended in a sudden death shoot out. very fun night.

hope you all had a nice weekend as well.

summer and fall

since I haven't blogged in ten years I thought I would catch up on why. we had a very busy, fun summer. we had lots of visitors, some of my favorites being Dominick's sister, Mary Kathryn and her hubs, TJ. we had so much fun hanging out with them. here is when we all went white water rafting.

yes, we are hardcore, thank you for asking.

we also did a lot of hiking and camping. we hiked mt. quandary, it was over 14,000 ft. the view from the top was amazing.

Dom enjoying his sandwich from the peak.

while we were camping we saw some mountain goats up on the mountains and we thought, 'they look cool' they must have thought the same thing about us because they joined us in our camp. this is Cody, my brother who went with us getting some good shots of our new friends.

when we got home from that camping/hiking trip I thought, 'hey I should take a pregnancy test.' I only had one left and had thrown the box away so when it came back with two blue lines I thought I knew what that meant but wasn't quite sure. so Dominick and I very excitedly started searching google images to confirm our suspicions. once confirmed, we were running around our little apartment, crying and hugging, it was very fun. since I only had the one test I went out and bought some more. then later in the week I took three more. I think that week I took a total of 6 pregnancy test. they were all positive and that led my mother to say to me, 'quit wasting your money on those test, you're pregnant!!' she was right, I am now 20 weeks so I am halfway.

this last Monday we went for our first ultrasound and got to see this little wonder.

we also found out this little wonder is a boy!! it was amazing to see him and watch him move. while we were looking at him he brought his little hand up from his waist to his mouth. it was really hard to watch him for so long and not be able to bring him home with us. we are very excited and overjoyed with his existence.

also we had a delightful weekend in Colorado springs.

we went to garden of the gods.

we went to the penny arcades. they had a ton of old arcade games, very fun.

(this was the same day the rangers played game 3 of the world series, hence my t-shirt. not quite ready to talk about the series yet, still painful)

we also visited the chapel at the air force academy.

I thought it would be like going to church in outer space.

then we went to boulder for our last afternoon to visit some breweries.
Dom, not being pregnant, enjoyed it a little more than me.

then we went to eat at a pretty cool restaurant called Oscar blues and watch game 4.
they had a lot of bar taps hanging from the ceiling.

when I was taking the above picture the bartender tried to jump in so I took a picture of him to keep him happy.

anyway, we had a wonderful time.

this is a long post but I wanted to catch up and recap.

hope everyone is well and enjoying the holiday season.

moab memorial day weekend

hope you all have had a nice memorial day weekend!

we had a wonderful time in the canyons of Moab, Utah.

friday night we loaded up the car and headed out. we camped along a creek bed.

I love camping, if you don't love camping I'm afraid I don't understand you. I love falling asleep being able to see stars out my tent roof and eating all my meals outside.

saturday we went hiking and exploring the canyons.

here is Dominick and our friends phil and maren who went with us at the trailhead.

Sunday we went mountain bike riding, sadly I have no pictures so you have to take my word that it was spectacular. the views were beautiful and the trails were fantastic.

monday we hung out for a while in arches national park.

the delicate arches are behind us but you have to look really closely.

Dom and maren picked up some pretty cool t-shirts from a fun bike shop in town.

we had a wonderful time of rest, relaxation and recreation. I highly reccomend moab for a getaway. we could have filled a few more days of fun activities but sadly work is requiring our return.

something that was hard for me...

im ready to talk about something that was particularly hard for me.

you see, I grew up in Texas which means I grew up a Texas ranger fan. I learned a great love of the team from my grandmother who has been a lover of the rangers as long as they have been a franchise.

and last october when they became American league champions by beating the yankees, I cried a few tears. when I'm having a bad day I simply look at this picture

and immediately begin to feel better.

which brings me to my problem. I moved to colorado, a state I love ad well as a state I am having a wonderful time living in. this would not be a problem if I did not hold such strong convictions that you always root, root, root for the home team. this rule is number one and has very few exceptions, none of which allow me to neglect the Colorado Rockies and remain ever true to the rangers only. (this rule is also the reason I would only live in new York city as long as the mets are there because I would rather eat a bowl of my own vomit than cheer for the yankees)

back to the point of this-the other night Dominick and I committed further to Colorado by attending a Rockies game at coors field.

and I cheered for the Rockies.

and I sang, "root, root, root for the Rockies" while the media guys through cracker jacks into the stands.

and a guy hit a home run and a water fountain sprayed high in the Forrest that sits in the outfield. (it was no fireworks and soundtrack of the natural movie but it was nice)

in the end we had a great time and I started my new love affair with a new team.

so that's the story. I now love the Rockies and they are my team and I'm committed.

it also doesn't hurt that the rangers are in the American league and the Rockies are in the national league so I can still cheer for the rangers until they meet the rockies in the world series in which case I will just go ahead and become a basket case.
